How to install microsoft authenticator?

Hi there,I am trying to install microsoft authenticator on my phone using the manuals. However, when I want to go to security info in my work account (in the browser on my desktop), I have to fill in the security number shown by the authenticator in the app. Since I am doing this to log into the app on my phone, I cannot type the number anywhere. So basically I am not able to log in on the app, because it already assumes I can access a device on which I can authenticate. Can you help me?
