When I plug a USB-C cord into my laptop I get three "PCI Express Downstream Switch Port" devices added to System devices in Device Manager

I bought a USB-C to lightning cable from Amazon and when I plug it into my laptop I get the sound of a new device being connected. I checked Device Manager and there are three devices in System Devices called "PCI Express Downstream Switch Port" and another called "PCI Express Upstream Switch Port." When I plug the cable into my iPhone then I hear the sound a of a device being disconnected, but the switch port devices are still there. I know almost nothing about USB-C. Is this normal?
