Sleep or Hibernate just shuts down computer on newly installed Win10 from Win8.1 on older Toshiba Satellite S855

Sleep or Hibernate just shuts down computer. I installed Win10 from Win8.1 on older Toshiba Satellite S855 with 3rd gen Intel Core - Ivy Bridge, and encountered this issue. I've tried many things already, including all the sleep/hibernate settings, running windows troubleshooter, checked what power saving settings I could find in the BIOS. Currently trying to find Intel Management Engine Interface (IMEI) driver to update from 2012 version in case that is the issue, but Intel doesn't seem to have drivers earlier than gen 6 (this is gen 3)... any suggestions?
