Does the name of the workgroup have any specific effect?

Hello,I have some computers in 1 local network. (Windows 10 latest version)by default, all machines have the workgroup name is WORKGROUP. All computers can see each other and share files with each other. However, when I wanted to separate 3 computers into 1 separate workgroup, so I named the workgroup on those 3 computers is TESTWG, surprisingly all computers still see each other.So what is the name of the workgroup used for? If you allow renaming but you still see each other after changing the name, is it a feature error?
