Upgrading to Windows 10

I have a HP PC Pavilion which is now 8 years old. When Windows 10 was first introduced, I upgraded to it from 8.1 but I uninstalled it because I was not happy with some of the features.I am now told that my PC is not compatible for this upgrade which I don't understand when it was originally. Can somebody please explain.
