I can confirm that you can just close the CMD window with the cross (right upper corner) When it is in stage 5.Just closed it and drive just came back within few sec.HiI have a external USB disk 16TB that is currently locked by chkdsk and is in stage 5 @15% and is not stuckThe disk is a few months old.Wanted to do a check on files only and not on free space. Anyway chkdsk is now checking free space. (bad, free clusters)How can I close CMD and still "UNLOCK" the disk?CTRL-C does not work.I need access to the files currently on the disk so formating the disk is not an option.Regards
