Samsung LCD Analog 940BW Vertically Challenged

I am pretty sure that I'm getting a foreshortened vertical view on my
screen. Circles continue to look like ellipses. I installed the latest
driver, but it didn't change a thing. I fiddled with the manual controls,
but zippo there too. I played with the Display icon/dialog on the Control
Panel, but that didn't seem to help either. Comments?

Monitor might be in its final throes.

It's less than a year old.

What screen resolution are you set at? Try updating the graphics card
drivers so some wide-screen resolutions will be available. 1440x900 is
the recommended mode if it isn't available, you can try any resolution
offered that is close to the same ratio. If none available for that
graphics card, you may need to buy another card with wide-screen
resolutions.

Thanks. It looks like you nailed it. I just called Samsung even though there
web site shows they are closed. They mentioned the 1440x900 res, and my
system won't allow me to get there. They suggested the video card is the
culprit, and they may be right. The PC is 4-5 years old and has a VIA/S3G
KM400/KN card. I'll check with VIA. Whoever that is.

Did you reboot after installing the latest driver? New resolutions
sometimes are not available in Display Properties/Settings until after a
reboot.
