Remediation Incomplete, Status: Failed after quarantine attempt. How to make sure threat eliminated?

I received an alert from Windows Defender that a trojan had been found. the actions available to me were “Quarantine” and “Remove”. I chose quarantine, and after a couple of minutes I was told “Remediation incomplete” and “Status: failed” But I don't have the option to try removing the threat or doing anything else.I did a full scan, which didn't detect any threats. How can I be sure the Trojan has been removed?
