how can I get media player to play cdgs as well as mp3. I tried adding a new feature to apps but that didn't work

I can't play my cdg files on media player. It won't play videos, only mp3. My files contain both mp3 and cdg. I tried adding a new feature to apps but that didn't help. What can I do or buy to allow me to play my files
