Why is my microphone not picking up on my laptop?

Hi there, my microphone is not picking up on my laptop - on any of my apps (zoom, teams etc.) I have done all the tests, chatted to a support worker at Microsoft, had everything updated and installed etc. But still not working. Am trying to get back in touch with Microsoft to resurrect my service request as problem still not sorted but can't find a way to do that. Can any one help?.
