When I go to the start menu and start typing, the expected output to be displayed does not appear. Instead, the result is all grey.If I then click on one of the "tabs" up along the top of the search result area, the expected view appears while the mouse button is pressed down. When released, the result goes back to grey. If I click in the open area to the right of the tabs, the expected result also appears.If I click on a tab again, the greying-out happens again.Here's an animated GIF that shows what is happening.
