I just (theoretically) moved my Documents folder from C: to D: drive, but it still appears is C: Can I erase the folder in C?

I just transferred my Documents folder from the System drive (C to my second drive (D.The computer showed that all of the contents of the folder were moved (I watched the process), and the folder now exists in D: The problem is that it was NOT erased from C: (and the reason that I wanted to move it was to free up space on that disk.Can I now erase the folder on C: without causing serious problems?
