PC cannot start after changing number of processors

I took a bad suggestion and very stupidly I changed the number of processors in msconfig from 1 to 2 despite my computer not having 2. processors. I restarted my computer and immediately noticed how much slower it was, so I changed it back to 1 and restarted my computer again. Now It fails to start and i’m taken to the automatic repair screen. I’ve already tried a system restore from the advanced options but that didn’t work. I have some very valuable files on here that I wouldn’t like to lose. Any help rectifying this mistake?
