Issues signing into Acer laptop, multiple passwords accepted then fail.

I'm currently trying for the first time in at least a year to sign into my Acer (can't remember if is was updated from Windows 10 to 11 or not), which has always been set up with a local account sign in. When I enter the correct password, I'm greeted the same way as always with "Welcome!" and a loading circle of dots. Then a few second later, it responds as though I've answered the incorrect password. Upon selecting "Okay" and attempting with the same password, I instantly receive the incorrect password message.
