How do I revert .PNG images which show as a black box with a white splash (unviewable) back to a .jpg format. (.99GB of photos)

Using Windows 10 Pro.Imported photos from mobile (Motorola edge 20 Fusion) via USB using Microsoft import option on 3/7/22 which show as above image.Used the same process on 24/6/23 which imported with the correct .jpg format. All photos viewable.Have tried Ultimate Photo Viewer and Image Editor Viewer. No luck.Also tried Photoscape X. No luck.Plus many suggestions from Microsoft help forums pertaining to the problem.
