how do i fix my mixed reality headset screen turning off when i put it on?

when i put on my headset, the screen turns off. when i take it off,it turns on (sometimes it doesn't turn back on) mixed reality portal shows what its meant to see, but the headset wont show it. i've tried restarting my computer, reinstalling windows mixed reality portal, but it wont work.
