How do I get to a previous version of the file that was on Onedrive? After it synced the wrong file and overwrote the correct one

I was unaware that onedrive file was the source file. It's a newish laptop that I wasn't using previously. So, when I was trying to establish my hard drive as the source of a file. The program in question (while opening) rewrote the file. Then Onedrive uploaded/downloaded it (the wrong file) and over wrote the correct file. Using Explorer (Microsoft's foundation file manager) I have been unable to 'restore previous versions' of the file, there are none there to restore. I would like to access, the previous version of the that was on Onedrive. Any possibility? Thanks in advance
