Unable to add .WAV files to music library in Media Player (new)

I am trying to add .WAV files to my music library in Media Player (not the old one from the windows XP days, the one that came with Windows 10 and can be found in the Windows app store). When prompted with the "Add Folder" button when the app says it cannot find any music. It can find the .mp3 files in the music folder. I confirmed the .WAV files are present, and when clicking on the individual files, Media Player will play them without an issue. I've tried reinstalling the app and deleted all previous data associated with it, however I cannot add my music to the music library. I must manually
