why won't my Asus Laptop use a USB for a boot option

so yesterday I tried to reinstall windows on my ASUS laptop with a USB Drive but it shows up in boot priority but as soon as I press enter it doesn't work and it takes me to the same screen that shows me what I can boot from. Anyone know how to fix this?
