So in an effort to clear computer space i deleted One Drive on my laptop, but somehow it deleted everything on my desktop?

So i was attempting to clear up some storage space on my computer and noticed that a "One Drive" file was taking up 169gb, so i deleted it. but to my horror, it deleted my desktop and everything on it?the strange part is that these photos, files and links werent even in my onedrive when i went online to check? is there anyway to reverse this, recover my files and reinstall onedrive?quite a few vital files and photos were on that, and id like to do anything to get them back.
