cannot set my screen resolution to 1920x1080 and reboot on windows 10

I have a 4k laptop but have developed vision problems so I have to change my display resolution to 1920x1080.This works fine until I reboot.When the machine reboots it appears to revert to 3820x 2160 (4k) but keeps the display set tp 1920x1080 the result is the entire display is squished into the upper 1/4 of the display. It also flashes on and off so you cannot get a picture long enough to do anything like try to login and fix the resolution. Plus I am nearly blind and cannot see a 4k screen when it covers the entire dispay smashing it down into 1/4 of the display I'd would need an electron
