How can I retrieve overwritten/deleted files?

In trying to install a fresh version of windows 10 on my laptop. I backed up my personal files/pictures etc on a usb. I then downloaded the media creation tool on the same usb. It seems that by running the media tool , the creation of the iso file has overwritten my personal backed up files on the usb. Is there a way that these can be retrieved? Or, can I revert my laptop back as it was? I'm pretty desperate here. Please help!
