Full Screen applications, specifically games, will almost randomly go black, seemingly minimizing, then immediately re-opens with noticeable performan

This is a bit of a weird one to explain, but basically whenever I'm playing something, it will occasionally and without any pattern go black as though it's trying to load my desktop screen again, then immediately open the game back up. When it does this, the game's performance TANKS. What's normally a smooth experience will be choppy as all hell until I close the game entirely and re-open it, but only sometimes.Like I mentioned, there's seemingly no pattern. Sometimes it'll happen after a few minutes, other times a few hours, sometimes not at all. but it definitely does not happen when I'm not
