In WORD red text & won't erase. I'm writer, need to work, passwords keep rejecting

Windows 10. WORD. Working on sequel to my published book and stuck. Text prints red and won't back erase. Tried getting Microsoft community help & passwords keep getting rejected. I'm lost and frustrated.. I'm 95 & running out of time. Please help.
