Why is my External SSD showing up as basic is disk management

Hello, I recently bought an hdd enclosure and a ssd. Whenever I plug it in my laptop it shows up as Basic instead of removable. I also have to create a volume from the unallocated space in order to use the ssd, but if I do I could no longer eject it.
