How do I log into a new account without the password for the previous one?

I've had my notebook for the past 5 years. It was passed on to me so it has always been logged into the previous owner microsoft account. I've updated it to Windows 10 yesterday and I need to activate windows but I can't change into my own account because I don't know the previous owner's password.
