Transferred Files from camera to external hard drive, now file path does not exist and shows up as internet explorer in my C: drive and cant access fi

Was transferring files from my Nikon D850 to my external hard drive. A process I have done countless times. files were transfered and good to go. Began working on other projects including transferring other files to other locations. At one point computer froze and so restarted but that folder I created with the photos does not show up in my External Hard Drive. The file name now shows up as an internet link in my C: drive and when I click on it it says the file path to the original place I saved everything can't be found. Is there any way to recover these files.
