Windows 10 Home edition Notification icon on lower right side of task bar is not working

Windows 10 Home edition Notification icon on lower right side of task bar is not working. Have tried all "fixes" from Microsoft forums and other forums but no success. Additionally, settings>network & internet>wi-fi>show available networks does not work (no networks are shown). I am connected to my default home wifi network and if works fine. However, when away from home and wanting to connect to another network, I cannot show/display any networks. Any ideas?
