external hard drive transfer files to pc

when i plug in the external hard drive it shows as a device but that's it with some indistinguishable files. see inserted image. Please where do i go from here. this is't anything i've seen as in the past. I only want music files.I know this is not an MS question per se but I've looked and what I find on youtube isn't helpful, yet.How do I drop and drag if that is how it is still done or copy and paste?Thanks
