Importing photos

I am very frustrated. When I used to plug my iphone 13 into my windows 10 computer, it gave me the option to import photos. Then I could select a box that said something like import new photos since last import and I would check that. Now it tries to import thousands of pictures from my phone each time What to do. I am soooooo frustrated.
