New computer name shows within AD and SCCM but can't remote into it unless using old computer name.

I have a computer that was given the wrong computer name, so one of my co-workers changed the computer name and remove the old computer name out of AD. The problem is when the user tries to remote into the PC with the new computer name it will not find it but when if someone uses the old computer name to remote into the PC it works. I have tried remoting into the PC via RDM as well as SCCM. I have done nslookup as well as made sure that it was one the right dns server (which it is) but it will not accept the new computer name to remote into.
