A new audio device was detected on my laptop, followed immediately by the screen turning off and back on again. Is my computer being viewed remotely?

As in the title. I was doing an assignment when my computer detected a new audio device that I didn't recognise in the second or so it was on screen. Immediately following that, the screen went black and then turned on again. I tried to restart my laptop, because it needs to update, and the updates got blocked. Is my laptop being viewed remotely, and if so how can I stop that?
