Why is Microsoft so internet on destroying the pleasure of using time honored programs in W10?

My Cool edit pro has been working for years in Windows 7 AND in windows 10 but gradually W10 changes have effected it and now it will not open after installation. Why is Microsoft so internet on destroying the pleasure of using time honored programs from working when there are no alternative programs of the same caliber in existence?
