Is it possible for a hacker to remove your auth and delete your account?

I got an email saying my authenticator was removed from my account. I tried to login to microsoft but my email no longer exist. I'm a little butt hurt but i didn't lose anything since it was my alternate account. I'm just curious on how this is possible.
