how to delete a contact from people app on windows 10

I want to delete old contacts from people app on windows 10. I need to start using outlook as I am using windows mail which is going away. I watched a youtube video showing how to complete this process but there was a delete icon showing on the top right corner which I do not have . Also if I right click on the contact I want to delete it is greyed out. My computer can go to the new outlook mail but my wifes computer cannot. They were set up as a joined together mail somehow which I don`t know. Can you please help.
