Laptop to TV connection through HDMI not working

I bought an hdmi cable to connect my laptop to a smart tv and use it as another display but i cant get it to work. I've tried changing the hdmi ports 1, 2 and 3. My laptop also doesnt detect another display when connected through hdmi to hdmi.My laptop model is TUF A15 with 1650Ti and the TV I'm using is a Xiaomi smart tv. This is my firdt time using an hdmi cable so any help is aprreciated.
