my pc only has 1 headphone jack so i cant use my mic and headset at the same time how can i fix this? when i plug in my headphones i can only hear aud

basically summarized above but this main issue is that the new pc i built does not have 2 jacks one for audio and one for mic. it only has one jack which says audio/mic yet i plug in my headphones that worked on my old pc (3.5mm) when i had an adapter (it would plug into both jacks and output 1 jack that i could use my headphones for) but on my new pc i can only hear audio and cannot speak. it is very frustrating and ive looked solutions but cannot find any. please tell me if i need to be more specific because i really need this issue fixed. and please tell me if this is an PC issue not a wind
