Windows locked me out

Someone is trying to gain access to my microsoft account. I can see login attempts but failed because the password is incorrect.Obviously but now I need to enter a confirmation code that is being sent to my email address every time I turn the computer on.I am trying to reset the pin, it says something went wrong.I don't really like the way this works. I shouldn't have to have my phone handy and my emails ready to log in on my computer.
