How do I change the displayed email underneath my profile picture when I am managing my Microsoft account?

I have added a new alias, made that alias my primary alias and deleted the old email, I was under the impression that this would remove the old email address from my account and replace it with the new email address. However the old address is still being displayed.Is there a way to completely remove the old email address from my account so that my account can no longer be related to that email and the email will no longer be displayed?
