Lost my photos

So I was working on something when I needed to change my download path to another hard drive, but when I did I lost my photos and other things that were in the downloads folder. I did Windows + R %userprofile%. Yes, I got some of my photos but really old ones and not the ones I need and other files that were in the downloads folder before. please help me.
