Is there a way to disable Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller Audio?

Playing Street Fighter 6 thru Steam my Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller will randomly switch audio from my headset to the controller and then back to my headset, is there a way to disable this feature, in what universe can a controller override the default audio settings Any help is greatly appreciated
