Do i have 2 copies of Pictures?

I have 2 folders called Pictures:1. on the desktop2. on This PC - PicturesThey are exactly the same. What have I done? I have just noticed this. Can I safely delete the folder on the desktop? I have checked it is not a shortcut.thank you
