Recently I've ran into a strange and embarrassing problem: when I edit metadata of music files, there is no dropdown list in the fields where it should appear (Contributing Artists, Genre, Composer). About 1.5-2 months ago it was still working and I didn't notice when exactly it happened. And there are even no restore points in the system, which could help me to roll back.
