Ever since the issue with a patch to fix LSSAS.EXE crashing my server back in March I haven’t been able to get any updates to install, since the patch they all fail with error 0x800f0986 which I believe is down to some corruption but cannot work out what. The most recent cumulative update is the July 2024 one - KB5040430 - which just won’t install with the same 0x800f0986 error.Some tech articles refer to using a tool call SFCfix.exe but they are specific fixes and say not to use the tool without knowledgable help, hence my question here - can anyone help me fix this issue?
