why is windows C++ failing to assert. What does this mean?

Whenever i try to load up American Truck Simulator from steam it loads,then i get a black screen saying ;"Assertion failed. " (my file location)"Expression : pdata." "For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure,see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts.""(press retry to debug the application - JIT must be enabled)"This has never happened to me in the 5 years with my PC, any solution?
