Unable to open documents on mobile

Hello, I have a pixel 7 and never had an issue opening files on my phone. I tried to access one today and my phone says File Share, device disconnected. This is related to my laptop but I don't understand why my phone is trying to open the file through my laptop and it won't just open in Google docs. Has anyone had this issue or does anyone know how to fix?
