Remote desktop connection app freezes on one display in dual display setup

I just installed a dual monitor setup at home so I can work from home. When I use the Remote Desktop Connection app on my personal computer to connect to my work desktop, it will work fine on both monitors for a few minutes, and then one display will freeze. While in full screen, I can still operate windows in the frozen display, it just stays frozen like a screenshot. The only way to unfreeze the display I have found is by clicking the Windows key to exit full screen temporarily, but this only resolves the issue for a few minutes after which one display freezes again.
