Games run slow and video quality bad

I had an update 2 days ago and now videos that are downloaded on my computer play in low quality and the 2 games that I play, LOTRO and 7 Days 2 Die are so laggy that I can't play them. The laggyness starts on the splash page and starting screens. I contacted Microsoft and an agent took control of my computer and checked the drivers and said everything was up to date but still nothing works. What's up? Is this a common problem? How do I fix it? I feel like Microsoft ruined my computer.
