My air pods say that they are connected but sound will only be played through the speakers.

I have connected the air pods before with no issues however, recently the audio will only play through the laptop speakers. I have tried adding them as the default output but I was unsuccessful. I have connected these to my phone and they work fine with that so I am unsure if this is an air pod problem or my laptop's problem.

Call audio from phone link or direct bluetooth call connection will only play over speakers regardless of what output device is selected.
