Cannot extend displays and latest Intel Graphics driver update causes VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE.

I am using a brand new Dell Precision 5490 laptop for work. It has an Intel Arc Graphics card, and lists an NVIDIA RTX 1000 Ada Generation Laptop GPU under 'Render'. It only has USB-C ports and came with a dongle to connect with HDMI. I cannot extend my display, however. The laptop knows which display is connected, but it shows as inactive. I tried to enable it in the Intel settings, to no avail. I looked online and people suggested downloading the Intel Driver Support Assistant. I did this, and I was stoked because it seemed to work - I could extend my display! But soon afterwards, my laptop
